Recent events in Jerusalem and elsewhere have actually served to ripen the idea of Madrase, our interreligious bet midrash. The Unit for Social Involvement and the Multiculturalism and Diversity Clinic invited students to take part in Madrase during the second semester. The project originated as the initiative of two students at the Clinic, Naama Cohen and Bar Rapaport. In the bet midrash we discuss war and peace, memory and forgiveness, renewal and tradition, through the texts of the three religions. The beit midrash is guided by Dr. Laila Laila Abed Rabho, litigator at the Jerusalem Muslim Sharia court, and Shlomit Frumkin, leader of the Interreligious Forum at the University. Participants receive a scholarship. Encounters are held on Mondays, 6-9 PM. In addition to our study sessions, we hold fascinating tours of Jerusalem.
