The white majority in the list of nominees for the Oscar awards had once again created a storm in the US. This time, actress Jada Pinkett Smith, her husband Will Smith and director Spike Lee said they will not be attending this year's show. In the year 2012, the LA Times reported a study showing that Oscar voters were 94% white and 77% male. The survey included more than 5,100 voters, which constituted more than 89% of the academy voices. The black voters made only two percentages of the academy, and the Latins - less than 2%. The average age of the voters was 62, and the people who are under the age of 50 constituted 14% of the members.
And what about us in Israel? The "ayin Shveieet" magazine (Seventh Eye) has reported that only recently the second authority has stopped supervising on Channel 2’s commitment to employ religious people, Arabs and newcomers - a commitment made six years ago. One can only dream of having equality of representation among TV hosts in Israel, as the screen is clearly lacking people of minority groups.
